Honoring the Modern-Day House Call Heroes
Today, I want to take a moment to reflect on the incredible heroes in healthcare and express my admiration for the modern-day doctors who are bringing back a practice reminiscent of old-time medicine — the house call.
These physicians, with their dedication to personalized care, remind me of the heroes who shaped my understanding of what it means to truly care for others.
I feel immense gratitude for Dr. Annaheita Kalantari, a shining example of this compassionate, patient-centered approach.
Dr. Kalantari has cared for my family with a warmth and attentiveness that deeply resonates with me. She reminds me so much of my dad, my first hero in healthcare, who continues to practice medicine with unwavering dedication at the age of 76.
Dr. Kalantari’s journey in medicine is inspiring. During her years in emergency medicine, she noticed a pattern: patients with chronic conditions returning to the emergency department, often because they lacked the tools and support to make meaningful lifestyle changes.
She realized that with just a little extra guidance, many of these individuals could drastically improve their health and avoid the stress and discomfort of repeated hospital visits.
She also recognized how many urgent medical issues could be addressed more comfortably at home, sparing patients the long waits and anxiety often associated with emergency care.
Driven by this insight, she reimagined her approach to patient care, bridging the gap between urgent needs and preventive, proactive health management.
This commitment to treating patients with a holistic mindset and in the comfort of their own homes is a reminder of the profound impact healthcare providers can have when they meet patients where they are — literally and figuratively. It’s an approach that embodies empathy, innovation, and dedication, and I am endlessly inspired by it.
To the modern doctors like Dr. Kalantari, who are bringing magic to healthcare, thank you. You are rekindling a spirit of care that honors the legacy of past generations while addressing the challenges of today. You are not just treating conditions; you are changing lives.

With gratitude and admiration,
